Hello Reader!

Welcome back, friends! I hope you have been enjoying some warmer weather like me, or at least taking some well-deserved time to enjoy life.

Today we’re diving into a difficult topic, cyberbullying and how to deal with divisive topics. We’ll cover a tool to help you sort through your orgs online reputation, and a highlight that is guaranteed to make you smile.

Without further ado, let’s jump in!

πŸ” One Problem – Dealing with Cyberbullying

Cyberbullying comes in many forms and unfortunately for online educator Ms. Rachel, she recently had to deal with the backlash of (checking notes) raising money for orphans. Last week Rachel Accurso (Ms. Rachel) announced she was joining Cameo to raise funds for Save the Children’s emergency fund, raising money for children living in conflict in Gaza, Sudan, Ukraine, and many more unimaginable situations. After the announcement she quickly raised $50k from 500 requests for videos. But along with the requests came the negative comments.

Ms. Rachel then posted a tearful video response to the bullying and harassment in which she reiterated her support for all children going through conflict. She has since had thousands of comments of support from across the world:

Taking a strong stance on a divisive subject can be tricky. We’re glad Ms. Rachel had the courage to take a stand on a cause she feels strongly about and we fully support her for it.

As a person or organization dealing with something like this, we’ve come up with a few tips to help get you through online bullying in various forms.

Tips for dealing with cyberbullying as an organization:

  1. Establish Clear Policies: Develop and implement comprehensive policies regarding cyberbullying and online harassment. Clearly define what steps should be taken if the company or an individual has to deal with an online bullying situation
  2. Provide Training and Education: Offer regular training sessions for employees on recognizing, preventing, and responding to cyberbullying. This can include workshops, seminars, and online courses to ensure everyone is equipped with the knowledge and skills to handle cyberbullying effectively.
  3. Support Affected Individuals: Offer support services for those who have been targeted by cyberbullying. This can include counselling services, access to mental health resources, and providing a supportive environment where employees feel safe and heard.
  4. Monitor and Take Action: Actively monitor online interactions within the organization’s platforms and social media channels. Swiftly address any instances of cyberbullying by taking appropriate actions and working to resolve conflicts. This can be limiting comments on your posts, creating a team to deal with harassing comments, or reporting comments to the respective platforms.

Key and Keynotes as an org stands in solidarity with Ms. Rachel and any child (and their families) affected by genocide. There are horrific, unimaginable, and devastating atrocities happening in the world as we type this and we do not want to be silent on this issue.

We have also donated to Save the Children in support.

πŸ› οΈ One Tool – Social Listening with Mention

Mention is a tool you can use to help monitor your online presence, company keywords, and analyze the sentiment of a topic. The world of social listening used to be prohibitively expensive for most small orgs. HubSpot and Meltwater bills would often run into thousands of dollars a month, putting the tools out of reach for most small and midsized organizations. Luckily Mention starts at $49/m and can grow as your needs grow.

Using a tool like Mention can help you with crisis management, general brand management, market research, and more. If you’re just dipping your toes into social listening, checking out Mention can be a great way to learn the ropes, without needing to take out a loan to do it.

πŸ… One Highlight – We make our Major League Soccer Debut!

We’ve recently been training to get our summer bod in tip-top shape and decided last week that soccer was the next big thing for us.

Deciding to make the most of our newfound love for the game of soccer, we hopped on the field during the Philly v NYCFC game and broke the record for ‘most minutes for a raccoon’ in Major League Soccer.

Now I’m not sure why they cut our cameo short but we appreciated the run around the field nonetheless.

Take a look at our debut, here!
